Report on the position of affairs relative to Military Correspondence with the Colonial Authorities
Early in January 1875 a correspondence took place between the Control Department, then under the charge of Captain Molony, and the Colonial Treasury, respecting the claims of the owners of certain houses to be relieved from Taxes in consequence of their occupancy by Military Officers, and on the matter being brought to the notice of the General, he called upon the Governor to point out the impropriety, as he thought, of the direct correspondence which was taking place with us.
